Buying an Iphone in China
v_in_c, 11:06h
As in all the Apple stores in the world, when a new Iphone is released, the shops are overcrowded. In Germany, where I come from, after a while the hype decreases and the stores are only crowded on the weekends. In China they are crowded every day, ESPECIALLY on the weekend. When my husband took the challenge of buying an Iphone 6 in China he luckily thought of making a reservation. Otherwise it is impossible to get an Iphone. Of course you also have to bring your passport, to prove that it is really you who ordered the phone. While we queued for the line of about 100 people, only for the time between 15h and 16h!!!,one of the security guards who was obviously responsible for the order in the line, started to shout at the crowd that only the customers holding the registered passports should proceed in the line. All the friends and family should leave the line, for there were too many people. Obviously there are too many people buying Iphones and Apple seems to have a problem with that. I was delighted to see that no one follwed his orders and at the same time I was thinking, China might be the only country where people could allow themselves this kind of behaviour. In Germany I might have left and told them I wouldn't buy an Iphone anymore, just to make a point. I might have ordered it online though. ;) So far so good. After we got to the cashier, after around 30 minutes of waiting, my husband decided to go for it and buy a cover. So we proceeded slowly through the masses. Afterwards we were so exhausted from all the waiting and the mass of people, that we decided to just go home and bake some cookies. Every trip you take in China is tiring. But at least now, we got an Iphone 6. :)
